Deployable Structures

A deployable structure is a structure that can change shape through mechanisms which significantly change it's size, for example, an umbrella, origami shape and scissor-like structures. This achieves expandable structures which can be transformed according to the needs of each design.


Advantages: lightness easy assembly, structural efficiency and transportability.


In location, the same advantages will apply. A deployable structure will allow easy play for the children because the construction won't be complicated, and actually quite aesthetically pleasing, so will keep them interested.

Also, using local materials such as banana/palm leaves and bamboo will allow for sustainable design.


If the structure was to break, the parts will be easy to replace; the material is locally sourced, the labourers know the design, and the design allows for easy replacement of a broken part.
